We will organize a bus transport from Munich main station to the symposium location the evening before the symposium starts, and back the morning after the symposium. In this way you will be freed from most logistics if you schedule your travel accordingly and it is simple to append or prepend a day or two in the city of Munich. In case your have to organize your own transport, below are some options:
The island of Frauenchiemsee

The Benedictine abbey of Frauenwörth was founded in the year 772. 130km away from Munich (Germany) and 70km from Salzburg (Austria) it is located on the small island of Frauenchiemsee in the lake Chiemsee. There are merely more than 200 inhabitants living on this island and one third of it is covered by the area of the cloister. The lake is surrounded by a beautiful and natural Bavarian landscape with the Alps on the horizon.

Airplane arrival
Airport Munich: From the airport MUC take the "S-Bahn" to Munich Central Station (approx. 40min) and go on by interregional train.
Airport Salzburg: Take the bus or a taxi to Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (HBF). Go on by train.

Train: There are trains going between Munich and Salzburg every hour. The station next to Frauenwörth is called "Prien am Chiemsee". From there you can take a bus or taxi to the harbour ("Stock"). The ferry will need about 30 minutes to the island.
